Yeah I had the same side effects. I went from taking Axit and some kind of benzo to taking Lexapro and had some really nasty side effects, burning up, nausea, shakes, anxiety etc. I think Zoloft gets out of the system fast and the Lexaparo needs to build up as you taper the Zoloft. So until you see your doc, I would go back on a small amount of the Zoloft. I am not a Doctor, but this is just something that I would do for me. What your doc meant was they are in the same class of medications, not that they are the same drug, they are not! And yes, you can switch over to Zoloft without needing to taper off of Lexapro, since both meds are Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors or SSRI's, or even SNRI's.
